The female have genitalia, but they are used only for egg laying, not for mating. Male injecting sperm into female blood. Male sometime pierce another male. In both cases the procedure can severely wound the victims. But they also can do it right way and then it's o.k. Male bat bugs can also be victims of the amorous attacks.
