Today I had a meeting with Hirokazu Kore-eda about my movie. He is a great film director from Japan. I met him in Japan, after he made film - "After Life".

I really like HUF store and Keith himself. But the guys who work with him in the store are not seem very smart. Very interesting today! "VICE" magazine editor, Jesse PEARSON, said he is not interested in strippers book at this time. Wonder why? Very easy answer! THERE IS NO VICE! The STRIPPERS don't do anything wrong! THEY WORKING! But people who around them - often do and then they blame it all on STRIPPERS!

I don't know when people will be able to look at themselves and see what they doing. But it's a same theme as my story in "LAST TRAIN FROM ROPPONGI". And it's very sad.

After having early dinner with my friend I went to see if I can audition in some other club in NYC. On sundays some clubs are closed. But one was open, but didn't do auditions. I asked if I can go inside and they let me. It was very nice. Especially I liked privet rooms. Some of them had poles inside! Then I had nothing to do and I stopped by nice cheese and vine place. Then I took a train , got lost a bit, walked around in circles and finally found my way home.That exact shoe was really cool to have in Russia when I was a child. The lines to buy it were starting in the evening and could stay for one or two days. At night people slept by the store, made a fire - if it was a winter... And each person could only get one pair. Sometimes you needed a coupon...

Ok. Ones it got so serious, I guess I need to get it done. I mean a Book "FLYING STRIPPERS". Now I'm thinking to include Paris and Moscow strip clubs in there as well.... There is also one in Cannes... Maybe I can ask them as well if I can take photos....

I also want to see this one. I also understood what it means "old style" strip club - it's when club make more money, then girls. For example, in San Francisco - for 1 hour in a Champaign room girl gets paid $600. Club gets 100. so all together it's $700. $300 girl gets for 30 min. Club gets $50! In New york - it cost 1700 an hour! And girl only gets 400. That's seems crazy to me. There is other room - 550 an hour, but girl gets only 175! Crazy!!!!!!!! Even Las Vegas is much better! I really would love to check out more clubs! It's so interesting! New York clubs are old... They have history... Managers look like old style gangsters, but they nice! You can still meet man there who loves to be a customer and thinks it is very cool to spend money on girls in the club! One talled me stories how he was spending money before: "Money was like shit!" That is kind of funny. He shows you bunch of 100$ bills and then doesn't give you any... Gives you few 20... or ones....Seriously! I think it's very cute! And stupid. Or he would say - "give me your number, I'll call you, you know I'm not looking for someone to sleep with. I'm looking for something more meaningful!!!" - of course I understand that! DON'T WE ALL???

It's quite amazing, but it seems I have no chance to become a stripper in NYC! And check out what is going on in the clubs here. Today I met with my high school friend from Obninsk who is Vice president of one of the devisions of J.P. Morgan now. Then I went to Sapphires, but they said they not hiring. I took taxi to Scores, and I sow some people with camera's there. They were shooting music video in front of the club next to Scores. A guy came up to me saying : "Vera!" and I recognized Aaron - one of my classmates from the Academy of Art. He lives in LA and came out to NYC to shoot music video for some English singer. The production company people were also my classmates. A girl and a guy! And they were all there! And of course we all remembered each other, even we haven't seen each other for 10 years! Scores was closed. So I couldn't go in. But the singer was looking like stripper.

Then Gera Gavrilov called and I went to his office for a minute. He is finishing movie as well .
Then Sam Khlebanov called. His first film as a producer going to play in Tribeca tomorrow night. So if he has free tickets - I will go see the movie. Means my dancing carrier is on hold for a moment.
I never got to see Sam's movie. I heard it's not very good.

I like walking in NYC a lot! Especially in "Flying strippers" keds is very comfortable! I could walk all day long without knowing where am I'm going - it's no problem for me - the city is new and it doesn't stop to surprise me for now. I only think it could be a bit lighter. It's a bit heavy from time to time, a lot's of old cafes mixed with new ones. But it's nice anyway... I wish to walk more... I'm also seriously attracted to huge posters. I don't know why, but I find them very beautiful. I was thinking that again I missed HANAMI this year, but sakura blossoms here in NYC now! I find sakura flowers very pretty. Cherry is another name for sakura. You can tell that Chinese people made this sushi - they decorated a bit too much, but taste is good.

And of course Tribeca film festival started today as well. But I have not heard from my friends. So I didn't go.But I visit my friend Roman Kaplan in "Russian Samovar" and we talked about photography and had a little cranberry vodka he makes there in the restaurant. There I felt like New York is my home.
I would recommend you visit Russian Samovar if you in New York. It is the best russian restaurant in the world. There you might be able to understand what it is - Russian soul.
When Stas Namin visited San Francisco, he came to "Hustler" club to see me and was very angry that I started dancing. We even had a fight and din't talk since. But I don't regret, because on top of the money I was making and photos I took, dancing really helped me to understand american society better and to see the need for change that mast be made. Now, in "Russian Samovar" Stas was looking at me from the photo on the wall. And again I realized that the world is very small and it's hard to get away...

I stay in a cute little apartment in East village with two cutest girls ever! I feel like I came out of prison or something and finally having a normal moment, go for a drink and food - a life not about work, customers, movies or photos. But Life just about life. Thinking about cars the other day I sow the sign of MAZDA! And it's a Seagull. No wonder I chose this car 12 years ago! Today I remembered very interesting story....

Ones, when I was in Academy of Art, I met Robin Wiliams on the movie set of a movie about the CLOWN (Patch Adams). It was on my way to school. In the Palace Hotel (There is great Japanese restaurant on the first floor). I said to PA that I'm a friend of 1 AD and PA called first 1AD. When first AD came I told him: ''Sorry, I don't know you, but I'm a film student. Can I see how you make movies?" 1 AD let me in. I was hanging around DIRECTORS CHAIR. I didn't know who the director was... (they said he made some big LA films) And Robin Williams came.

He liked me right away. He made movie in Russia and knew few Russian words. He walked with me around the set telling some stories about Hudson...

Then, I wanted Robin Williams to be in my short film about a painter. I wrote script with Robin William's in my mind... I forgot how I found out about Sea Cliff, but I went to his neighborhood to find where he lives. I just knew that his house costed $8 000 000. I drove around his neighborhood and asked people if they know where Robin William's lives. I was in my new then car and his neighbors showed me his dirty-pink house. I wrote down the address and sent him Fed Ex letter That I wanted him to be in my student film. I wanted him to be a painter (I had never painted in my life then, since I was 7-8-9 - when in school i was getting not very good grades for my drawings. I thought I can't paint). He never replied to my letter and I had to change things around and shot it with a woman painter and Josh as a model. For some reason, I couldn't finish editing it. But Josh ended up in Larry David's "Curb your enthusiasm" as a TENIS TEACHER.

What I really wanted then for my birthday - is to have DIRECTOR CHAIR, with my name on it, as a present from someone. NOW I SEE WHY PRODUCTION OF LAST TRAIN FROM ROPPONGI STOPED IN 2004! SERGEI SELYANOV GAVE ME THE TITLE, BUT NO CHAIR. GOSKINO GOT ANGRY AND DIDN'T GIVE HIM MONEY.

ALSO in 2003 I got married and became a chair 4 some one else... My x-husband maybe wanted me to become a painter or landscaper, like he was.... so he stole my old paint and gave it to his street friends in the Mission. I used cans of paint as props for my short film about painter and my Swedish friend painter from Academy of Art didn't want to take it back from my apt. He also didn't take huge painting of the orange bird with no eye. It is very Heavy. It was in my bed room and I was afraid to sleep on my bed. I thought it might fall and kill me. Then I put it to my kitchen. It's still in my kitchen. But! Swidish painter (painter, who was also did sculpture) took big painting with Blond boy on it with butterflies. It was a prop in my movie too. My husband was blond and together with old can's of paint he took my luggage Louis Vitton bag, that was given to me halfway (half I had to pay) by one customer in Japan. It was my trophy from Japan and I loved it. With my bag my x-husband run away to Washington and he lost it there. He said: you don't paint anyway and that he needed a bag... I was angry, but I bought 6$ paint in the Art store and painted my first oil painting red flowers on yellow with little black hearts - sadness... it's still in my room. Then I went to court and filed small court clam against my husband for my bag and paint. His name was Micah ("God like" in Hebrew) Reed. So I served him (court papers) in 111 Mina Gallery. (Now I remember, In Japan I went to Ryuichi Sakomoto's concert with ...Baum... called "No mine land" or "No mind land" or "No land mine"... Then there was a movie "No man's land", that won Oscar...) Micah didn't come to court and I won! I didn't collect money thought... Because it didn't really meter then, I already started to work in "Hustler" (belongs to Dejavu group, father of the owner founded "Happy Donut" )... And I got pink "Hello Kitty" suit case. I also wrote about Micah in my book "Last train from Roppongi" and when it got published I gave my book to him to read. Then I did another painting... (When I came to Cannes that year, russian producer S. Cheliyans introduced me to Donato Rotuno) Anyway, Flowers behind black window frame. They were behind some other things too, like wanted to come out, but couldn't.... it's also in my kitchen... And the last one - Big white flowers, on pink canvas where before I had a page from Ukranian magazine "Ours", that Todd Solondz gave me in Moscow when we went to Sinagog together. He thought I will like the magazine. I liked the magazine, but especially I liked one page - On that page was drawing of animal orgy red animals on yellow... In SF I got new canvas, painted it pink and sticked page with the orgy on it. Few month ago I took animal orgy away and started to paint white flowers. I bought new white paint, but then ... something was not there... and now paining is in my closet... White flowers are not finished... I also have other stories... Story about the circus tight rope walker and my life in the circus with North Korean acrobats and Italian lion tamer... About island... Vanity Fair, about taxi driver and others...

As soon as I became a chair - everyone wanted to sit on it. Later, Jean Pigozzi saved me by sending me new camera.

Later on, Hirokazu Kore-eda said in his film that "Shagal doesn't have to be restored", Vladimir Putin became a painter... And Jean Pigozzi took a photo of Robin Wiliams with Limo on his hands this march in LA.
